Teacher Simone
Simone Gillespie
Head Teacher (South African)

Simone is a remarkable educational leader who joined KINS in 2014 and has been at the helm of the school for over 8 years. Originally from a small town in South Africa, she relocated to Zanzibar with her husband more than 9 years ago. Simone earned her BEd degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA)

Teaching is Simone’s true passion, and she thrives on inspiring and challenging children to develop a deep love for learning. As an exceptional leader, she constantly seeks ways to support and nurture both the students and the professional growth of her fellow educators. Simone’s focus is on creating a caring and enriching educational environment, where every child can flourish.

Teacher Zabibu
Zabibu Msagamasi
Nursery Teacher (Tanzanian)

Zabibu joined the KINS team in September 2016. She was born and grew up on the mainland. Once she completed her Secondary Education, she completed a Hotel Management Course and in 2015, she worked as a child attendant at Dream Hotel. This is when she found her calling. She loved working with children and wanted to gain more experience in teaching so when she heard about KINS, she knew it was the right fit. 

Zabibu loves working with the children every day and enjoys learning from her environment.

Teacher Betrida
Betrida Ruvahandi
Preschool Teacher (Tanzanian)

Betrida was born in Kigoma region. She completed her secondary education in Morogoro. Her passion for working with children and witnessing their growth has fueled her desire to pursue teaching in Zanzibar. Betrida has attended many seminars for teaching Nursery and Lower Primary and has taught and assisted at a variety of different schools. She joined our team in November 2017.  Betrida is happy to be part of the KINS family and enjoys her days at school.

Teacher Belinda
Belinda Jomalema
Preschool/Primary Teacher (Tanzanian)

Belinda was very excited to join the KINS family. She started with us in January 2022. Belinda was born in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam, and completed her  bachelor’s degree in Education at Arusha University in 2019. She started working as a teacher at Nazarene progressive school from 2020-2022. Belinda decided to work as a teacher because of her love for children. She enjoys playing with them as well as helping them achieve.

Her philosophy is, every child can be educated, it’s just a matter of time and space. Failing and winning is within our hands.

Teacher Aziza
Aziza Mwingi
Nursery Teacher (Tanzanian)

Aziza started here at KINS in November 2018 and is happy to be a part of the Nursery team. Born in the Island with a longstanding passion for teaching younger children, she found her calling to teach in Zanzibar. Her previous work was at another Nursery School. She brings a lot of energy and happiness to the class and all the children have great fun with her. 

Aziza loves spending her days with the Nursery class, playing and singing.

Teacher Bedson
Bedson Chilewa
Primary Teacher (Tanzanian)

Bedson joined the KINS family in 2018 as a part time sports Teacher. He enjoyed his days at the school and accepted a full time position in January 2021.  Bedson holds a diploma in Education (Marangu TTC) and Bachelor of Education in Adult Education with Community Development (B .ED.ADEC) from The University of Dodoma. He continues to run the sports lessons at KINS and is the Primary One Class Teacher. His subject lesson in Mathematics where he loves challenging children to think outside the box.

Aziza Mwimbe
Preschool Teacher (Tanzanian)

Aziza joined KINS lndependent School in April 2023. She is from Dar es Salaam, in a district called Temeke. She grew up in Gaborone Botswana where she completed her primary and secondary in Gaborone Botswana. Aziza then graduated from the University of South Africa (UNISA) with the Advanced Programme in Early Childhood Education. After she completed her course, she worked at Joyland pre-school in Gaborone Botswana as a teacher. She then went and worked in South Kgalagadi in a rural area called Tsabong in Botswana. Aziza decided to come back to Tanzania and teach in Zanzibar, keeping herself busy by tutoring children at home in her area. She looks forward to cooperation from her colleagues and parents.

Her passion is instructing, spreading positivity and genuinely enjoys teaching and engaging with children while learning.

Teacher unique
Unique Philip Mwigani
Primary Teacher (Tanzanian)

Unique joined KINS in April,2023 as a teacher of year 3. Unique is originally from Tanzania mainland, in Dar es salaam. Unique graduated from the University of Dodoma, with a Bachelor of Arts in English Linguistics. She worked as a teacher for 6 years with both Cambridge and British curricula. She later joined for Master of Arts in Linguistics at University of Dar es salaam and completed the coursework. While doing her dissertation, she had an internship with A level students at Dar es salaam Independent School for 9 months.

Her passion is instructing, spreading positivity and genuinely enjoys teaching and engaging with children while learning.

Izzy Cudlipp
Primary Teacher (British)

Izzy, originally from Newcastle, United Kingdom, embarked on her teaching career in 2012 after completing her training as a Primary Teacher. Since 2013, she has taught in various British schools across different countries. For three years, Izzy dedicated her expertise to teaching Year 4/5 students in Kenya, fostering their academic and personal growth. Following her time in Kenya, she relocated to Dubai, where she spent five fulfilling years teaching Year 3 and Year 4 students.

For the past two years, Izzy has been residing in Zanzibar, and she is thrilled to begin a new chapter at KINS, continuing her journey as an educator. One of Izzy’s greatest joys in teaching is witnessing the transformation of her students’ personalities and confidence throughout the academic year. Being part of such a pivotal time in their lives holds a special place in her heart.

Teacher Josephine
Josephine Richard
Preschool Teacher (Tanzanian)

Josephine is a Tanzanian lady who holds Certificate in childhood at Montessori Training Center attained in 2009. She works as a preschool 1 teacher at KINS after joining in 2023, she is having 13 years working experience since she has been teaching in different schools, Little ducklings daycare and learning center and has been leading the school for 5 years, Good Samaritan pre and primary school, Liberman nursery school as well as Tuwapende  Watoto (NGO) 

Josephine is amazing teacher who loves children, she loves adopting new things, inspiring children to love learning, playing for their health as well as loving and caring for one another,
